Abel Tasman Remote Coast Kayaking

The Abel Tasman National Park is a profoundly beautiful coastal paradise that has been enjoyed by many cultures over many centuries. It is an environment that we share with many life forms on both land and sea. As we protect and enhance the Abel Tasman's natural balance, we guard its soul.

Kayaking is such a unique, low impact way to explore the beautiful golden beaches, peaceful coves and lagoons, offshore islands, wildlife and the native forest fringing the granite coastline!

This is a stunning day trip that covers the entire marine reserve from start to finish. Starting at Awaroa, after water taxi transfer, you'll visit Shag Harbour (tide dependent), a hidden inlet like nowhere else in the Abel Tasman. Paddle south focusing on Tonga island and it’s playful inhabitants – the NZ fur seal, Kekeno. After a great picnic lunch on one of the beautiful beaches you’ll visit Tonga Arches, exploring further south along the carved granite coastline through to the tranquil lagoons and golden sand of the ‘heart of the park’ and your final destination, Bark Bay.
